NUIT BLANCHE 2009
Saturday October 3, 2009

TSA participated this year at Toronto’s fourth annual Scotiabank Nuit Blanche event. Ruby-Choose-A-Day was a collaborative project by out staff, students, staff, faculty and community. It comprised of a multimedia installation and celebration to mark the start of the 40th anniversary for our school. Our installation this year took place at Coupe Bizzare on 710 Queen West, so while they were offering free haircuts at their 704 Queen W. location TSA had a chance to display our installation and open life drawing at the back of the salon.
The Ruby gem is the stone which demarcates a 40th anniversary. It served as a time capsule room that offered an environment that represents five different decades from the 60s to the present. Due to size restrictions we were only able to install half of the structure, and it was a curious and interactive experience for many Nuit Blanche visitors. They were able to enter the environment and experience the slide show of still and time-based imagery. Many participants also took the time to sit down and drew from our life models.

City Chase Event 2009
June 20, 2009
The City Chase is a unique urban adventure that requires participants to exhibit teamwork, resourcefulness, determination and the ability to make decisions on the fly as they search for ChasePoints scattered in unknown locations throughout the city. (http://www.mitsubishicitychase.com)
This year, TSA participated in this event where participants had a chance to find our school and build a sculptural piece in the studio. A second City Chase event will take place on August 15, 2009.
