New Course – Legacy of Women in Art
300 Legacy of Women in Art
Learn about the significant contributions and diverse practices of women artists.
This course will examine historical as well as contemporary women in art. Students will look at art production in all media and how women have a brought a unique vision and voice to its progression internationally. Situating our subjects within the greater art historical and social context, students will discuss how the struggles and accomplishments of early women artists laid the path for the dynamic women artists of today. In the fall term we will discuss women artists and their artistic contributions and experiences throughout history. The winter term will focus on thematic topics and art production by women in recent decades. This course will also include guest artist lectures in both terms.

New Course – 320 Interdisciplinary Studio
320 Interdisciplinary Studio
The central aim of this course is to provide students with the unique
opportunity to work with several Toronto School of Art faculty.
Lectures, workshops, critiques, feature guest artists and 3 TSA faculty who are professionals in their fields provide an atmosphere that is stimulating and supportive of the student’s individual aesthetic development. This team-taught course allows students to work on a project and/or body of work under the supervision of each faculty member. Techniques, skills and materials will be touched on; however, the main focus of this course is to strengthen the student’s idea-based practice with regular critical engagement. This course is open to all students working in all disciplines including drawing, painting, sculpture, collage and assemblage, installation, digital, video or a combination. Along with providing students with studio space, a major component of Interdisciplinary Studio is the interchange among the participants. This course is also intended for students who have repeated the same class more than twice. Prerequisite: Collage and Assemblage 2, Installation and Assemblage, Painting 2 – Studio, Sculpture 2, Figure Painting 2, Life Painting 2 – Figure Concepts.
